Connaître son statut gratuitement, à notre pharmacie
Know your status for free, at our pharmacy
Knowing your HIV and hepatitis C status is the first step toward protecting yourself, protecting others, and accessing treatments that work quickly. Yet many people have never had access to simple, nearby screening without a complicated process.
Our pharmacy now offers a free, fast point-of-care screening service for HIV and hepatitis C, right on-site, as part of the PHARMA-C+ research study.
A fast test, a human touch
The appointment takes about 30 minutes and includes:
- A confidential welcome with a team member trained for this study
- A rapid detection test (finger-prick sample, results in minutes)
- Pre- and post-test counselling, to answer your questions and refer you further if needed
No prior medical appointment is needed. The service is free.

Why the pharmacy as a screening point
A community pharmacy is a place you already know, without an emergency room wait, without stigma. That's exactly the idea behind this service: bring screening closer to people instead of waiting for them to come to it. Excellent treatments exist today for HIV and hepatitis C, but only knowing your status gives you access to them. A rapid test at the pharmacy removes one more barrier between you and that information.
Taking part in a study that advances access to care
This service is part of PHARMA-C+, a study led by researchers from Université de Montréal and the McGill University Health Centre, approved by the research ethics boards of both institutions. The goal: to assess the feasibility, acceptability, and relevance of HIV and hepatitis C screening directly in community pharmacies across Quebec.
By booking an appointment, you're not just getting tested: you're helping demonstrate that this model works, and helping open the door for this kind of free service to become available in more pharmacies, for more people, across the province.
You will be presented with a consent form on-site before the test, in accordance with the protocol approved by the ethics boards.
